Abstract

The properties of the spin-2 transverse Ising model with a crystal field are studied by using the effective-field theory with correlations. A new method is developed to investigate the model with spin >1. The phase diagrams,magnetization curves, internal energy and specific heat are investigated numerically for the honeycomb lattice.
