Abstract

An inverse method of elastic constants for the orthotropic plate is presented by the laser-generated Lamb wave technique combined with the wavelet transform (WT) and artificial neural network (ANN). The transient waveforms obtained by numerical simulation under different elastic constants are takenas the input of ANN for training and learning. The raw Lamb waves signal is first transferred to a pre-processor, and then is input to a multi-layer feed-forward neural network with resilient backpropagation algorithm. Inversion results show the effectiveness of the method.
