Abstract

A new calcium-BINOL catalyst has been developed for asymmetric Michael addition reactions of enones and enals. This inexpensive monometallic catalystfunctions not only as a Lewis acid but also acts as a Bronsted base. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
