Abstract

The ternary Al-Pd-Co V-phase and U-phase (reported previously) were studied by powder X-ray and electron diffraction. The V-phase was found to have aprimitive monoclinic structure [a=1.0068(2) nm, b=0.3755(1) nm, c=0.6512(4) nm and beta =102.38(6)degrees for Al70.0Pd9.2Co20.8]. The U-phase was found to have a C-centered monoclinic structure [a= 1.9024(4) nm, b=2.9000(4) nm, c= 1.3140(4) nm; beta =117.26(3)degrees for Al69.1Pd16.5Co14.1].
