Abstract

Low-energy electron Total Current Spectroscopy (TCS) was used to study interface formation between ZnO(0001) substrate and ultrathin layers of organic molecules corbathiene (CRB) and perylene tetracarboxylic dianhidride (PTCDA). Fine structure of the total current spectra and the surface potential variation were monitored during the deposition of the films. It was observed that the CRB and PTCDA films were formed by the whole (not destructed) molecules. The surface potential variations during the film deposition were discussed considering the change of electron affinity, band bending in the substrate, interface charge redistribution and polarization of the molecules.
