Abstract

We have succeeded in enhancing J(c) values of bulk Gd-Ba-Cu-O by employingfine Gd2BaCuO5 (Gd211) powders as precursor material. The mean diameter ofGd211 particles dispersed in the GdBa2Cu3Oy matrix could be reduced to 0.3mum when we used ball-milled Gd211 starting powders <0.1 mum in average diameter. The J(c) value of bulk Gd-Ba-Cu-O with refined Gd211 reached 130000A/cm(2) in self-field at 77 K. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
