Abstract

The magnetic torque and Faraday force magnetisation of alpha-(BEDT-TTF)(2)KHg(SCN)(4) have been studied in magnetic fields up to 28 T and temperatures between 1.4 K and 15 K. The magnetic field was oriented nearly parallel to the highly conducting layers. The low temperature ground state is characterized by additional temperature dependent components of the susceptibilitytenser, which are exactly parallel to the layers. The transition temperature for almost parallel direction of the magnetic field follows a B-2 law upto 28 T.
