Abstract

Two photons of coherent IR light simultaneously (the femtosecond scale) absorbed by each of two spectrally distinct (visible) fluorescent labels can significantly simplify the analysis of biomolecular interactions and dynamics on a single-molecule scale. The picture shows the two chromophores of anisolated molecule fluorescing at two distinct frequencies after two-photonexcitation.
