Abstract

The inclusion complexation of some dye guest molecules with water - soluble calix[n] arenesulfonates (n =4,6,8) and alkylated calix[6]arenesulfonateshas been investigated at 25.0 degreesC. It was found that the fluorescenceintensity of dye guests decreases upon the addition of calix[n] arenesulfonates. while the alkylated calix[6] arenesulfonate derivatives cause gradual increases in the fluorescence intensity of dye guest. The phenomena were explained in terms of photophysical behavior. The stability constants of the resulted complexes were determined via spectrofluorometric titration at 25.0 degreesC and the molecular recognition behavior was also discussed.
