Abstract

We present a study of the remanent magnetization of multifilamentary Ag/Bi-2223 tapes for the magnetic field applied at different angles to the tape surface. Remanent magnetization allows to separate the intergrain and the intragrain contributions. The intergrain magnetization reflects the flow of macroscopic transport currents, We describe the microstructure of the tapesas an agglomeration of platelet-like grains. Based on this model we determine the mean grain alignment by the simple comparison of the intragrain magnetization measured at two different orientations of the magnetic field.
