Abstract

The effect of system of production (intensive versus semi-intensive) on some slaughter and carcass traits of Alpine male kids was evaluted. Data adjusted to a common age. indicated that management system had no significant effect (P > 0.05) on carcass shape (carcass conformation and compactness andgigot conformation) and external fat score. Kids raised under the intensive management (IM) had heavier slaughter and carcass weights and large carcass width (P < 0.01). Their dressing percentage and internal fat score were higher (P < 0.05).
