Abstract

Two-hundred and forty femtosecond, 17 MeV electron beam generation and 330fs (rms) resolved synchronization with 100 fs Ti : Sapphire laser are available for radiation chemistry research at the S-band twin linacs of NuclearEngineering Research Laboratory, University of Tokyo. Further, numerical and experimental analyses on the laser plasma linac of similar to 10 fs similar to 20 MeV electron beam using 12 TW 50 fs laser and laser plasma wake-wave breaking are under way. It is synchronized by a 33 fs step with 50 fs probe laser. These works are done using the Femtosecond Quantum Phenomena Research Facility installed in 1999. Updated experimental results: on the linac-laser synchronization and laser plasma linac are presented. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
