Abstract

Vaccines protect against a number of infections that travelers may encounter and should be integrated into the pretravel preparation. Increasingly, persons who are elderly, HN-infected, and immunocompromised are traveling. Most vaccine studies have assessed immunogenicity, efficacy, and adverse effects in young, healthy populations. Age and other host factors may influence recommendations about choice of vaccines and timing of doses. This article reviews selected aspects around the use of routine and special vaccines for travelers.
