Abstract

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fibers were melt spun at high speeds, andfibers differing in crystallinity, birefringence, and melting point were obtained. The dyeing behavior of the fibers was then investigated using C.I. Disperse Red 1. High-speed spun PET fibers showing high dye exhaustion at 98C were shown also to have a large amount of interfibrillar voids and to exhibit peculiar surface morphology.
