Abstract

The effect of reactive methacrylate diluents on the compressive stress-strain behaviour of rigid dimethacrylate networks was investigated. Since the resins were cured at 40 degreesC, the samples vitrified during cure, resulting in polymers with very similar glass transition temperatures. The presence of large and flexible reactive diluents significantly reduced the yield stress and raised the Eyring activation volume. The addition of core-shell rubber particles also reduced the yield stress. (C) 2001 Society of Chemical Industry.
