Abstract

The study of the influence of chemical prehistory on phase formation and microstructural features of LaSrCuO4-delta, powders, prepared by sold-state and freeze-drying methods was undertaken. X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential thermal analysis (DTA), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) methodswere used to determine the structural and morphological changes occurring during processing. The mechanism of precursor decomposition was found to besufficiently affected by pressure and heating rate, so that single-phase LaSrCuO4-delta was obtained at a fairly low temperature of 600 degreesC. Themorphology of the samples obtained by different methods correlated well with their specific surface areas. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
