Abstract

We have studied the magnetic properties and specific heat in CeNiSn. It isfound that the peak of susceptibility in CeNiSn, which is not caused by the long distance antiferromagnetic correlation, shifts to low temperature with increasing the magnetic field. The V-shaped density of states can not explain the shift although it can explain many other experimental results. Wefor the first time explain the shift and magnetoresistance measurements byspin-charge separation. The critical field H(c)approximate to 6T, at whichthe spin gap itself closes, and the spin gap Delta (s)approximate to 18K in CeNiSn are obtained.
