Abstract

The synthesis of 17 beta-isopropyllupanine N-oxide (1) [N-O 17 beta izoprLa] and its perchlorate salt (I-H+) is described. On the basis of pK(a), IR and NMR measurements it is shown that this compound has the same configuration and conformation as N-oxide of lupanine (2) [Ala] and N-oxide of 17 beta- methyllupanine (3) [N-O 17 beta MeLa], i.e. the skeleton has ring C in boat form.
