Abstract

Controlling angiogenesis, either positively or negatively, is considered to be useful for the treatment of various diseases. Angiogenesis primarily depends on the phenotypic changes of vascular endothelial cells (ECs). Various genes are expressed in ECs during angiogenesis, and thus, understanding of the transcriptional control of these genes in ECs is very important. This review focuses on transcription factors that may play important roles in angiogenesis. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Inc. All rights reserved.
