Abstract

The analgesic effects of verapamil, a calcium channel blocker, and chloramphenicol, a phenicolated antibiotic, were compared using the testof acetic-acid-induced writhing and the hot-plate test in mice. The results suggest that both drugs have antinociceptive properties comparable to salicylate analgesia. No significant difference was found between verapamil- and chloramphenicol-induced analgesia (p < 0.05).
