Abstract

Submillimeter wave ESR measurements have been performed on gapless S = 1 antiferromagnetic bond alternating chain system Ni(333 - tet)(mu - N-3)(ClO4) using the pulsed magnetic field up to 16 T and the resonance has been observed ill the temperature region from 4.2 to 260 K for the first time. The B-shift and the broadening of ESR are observed below 113 K, which corresponds to the maximum of the magnetic susceptibility. These results suggest theimportance of the quantum fluctuation in the system at low temperature. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
