Abstract

The kinetics of oxygen incorporation in oxides is analysed. The impact of bulk diffusion and surface reaction as well as blocking effects and favourable transport by grain boundaries are considered in particular with respectto novel developments in the field. It is particularly discussed in how far the overall measurements allow for a mechanistic interpretation. Experimental results refer to SrTiO3 as a mixed conductor. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V.
