Abstract

An approach for transmitting a digital optical single sideband signalin a self-homodyne detection system has been developed. Simulation results show that 10Gbit/s of data can be transmitted through conventional singlemode fibre over distances > 1000km with post-detection electrical dispersion compensation; initial experimental results show transmission of 10Gbit/s over distances up to 200km.
