Abstract

Electronic structure calculations suggest that a low barrier route to the reduction of NO is via a trimeric intermediate, this route being especiallyfavourable for the anionic trimer. Such a reaction pathway may be implicated in the selective catalytic reduction of nitric oxide and may be catalysed by electron donors such as low valency metals. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
