Abstract

We have measured the elastic structure functions A(Q(2)) and B(Q(2)) for the deuteron in Hall A at Jefferson Laboratory. The measurements for il(Q(2)) covered a large momentum transfer range: 0.7 to 6.0 (GeV/c)(2) and the data are compared to results of relativistic-impulse approximation calculations that include contributions from meson-exchange currents and to predictions of models based on quark counting rules. The measurements for B(Q(2)) covered a range of momentum transfer from 0.7 to 1.35 (GeV/c)(2) and are compared to results from relativistic and nonrelativistic-impulse-approximationcalculations.
