Abstract

We report the quasielastic neutron scattering results on an amorphous polyimide below the glass transition temperature T-g (= 523 K). The so-called fast process in picosecond order has been observed far below T-g. We also performed dynamic mechanical measurements at 10 Hz to find that the beta-relaxation temperature is close to the onset temperature of the fast process although the difference in the frequencies in both the measurements are more than similar to 10(10) Hz.
