Abstract

Surgical lesions in rat condylus were treated with N,N-dicarboxymethyl chitosan and 6-oxychitin sodium salt. Morphological data indicate that the best osteoarchitectural reconstruction was promoted by 6-oxychitin, even though healing was slower compared to N,N-dicarboxymethyl chitosan. Complete healing was obtained with N,N-dicarboxymethyl chitosan within three weeks. (C)1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
