Abstract

The solidification of Fe-C alloys in the peritectic range is studied by computer simulation using a general type of software for simulation of diffusion-controlled transformations. The effect of cooling rate and the contentsof chromium and nickel are examined. The composition yielding the lowest undercooling for complete formation of gamma phase is found to vary appreciably with cooling rate.
