Abstract

Severe refractory hemorrhagic cystitis secondary to chemotherapy and/or radiation may be a significant clinical problem for which we currently lack adefinitive noninvasive treatment. While the efficacy of hyporbaric oxygen therapy for hemorrhagic cystitis has been established in adults, its role in children has yet to be defined.(1-3) To our knowledge we report the firstsuccessful use of hyperbaric oxygen in a child with severe hemorrhagic cystitis refractory to conventional treatment.
