Abstract

The hydrogenation of CO2 over YBa2Cu3O6 similar to 7 superconductor catalyst was investigated using XRD, in - situ FT - IR, XPS, ESR, TPR and AFM techniques. It is shown that the CH3OH selectivity is directly proportional to the reaction pressure and space velocity, but is inversely proportional to the reaction temperature. The Cu2+ ions in YBa2Cu3P6 similar to 7 were mainly reduced to Cu+ in the presence of H-2 andCO2. The intermediates in the catalytic reaction might be aldehyde and methoxy radical. During the hydrogenation the catalyst might be decomposed.
