Abstract

We present a new determination of f(Ds) using 5 million e(+)e(-) --> <c(c)over bar> events obtained with the CLEO II detector. Our value isderived from our new measured ratio Gamma(D-s(+) --> mu(+) nu)/Gamma(D-s(+) --> phi pi(+)) = 0.173+/-0.023+/-0.035. Using beta(D-s(+) --> phi pi(+)) = (3.6+/-0.9) %, we extract f(Ds) = (280+/-19+/-28+/-34) MeV. We compare this result with various model calculations. [S0556-2821(98)03715-1]
