Abstract

Several problems are noted with Lawrence, Roe, Sc Williams' (1997) confirmatory factor analyses of Tobacyk's (1988) Revised Paranormal Belief Scale. The most serious problem is the misattribution of the Big Orthogonal Seven model of paranormal belief to Tobacyk and Milford. Because Tobacyk and Milford never proposed an Orthogonal Seven model of paranormal belief, Lawrence et al.'s analyses and conclusions are largely specious. A mixed model of paranormal belief, including both orthogonal and oblique interfactor relationships, appears most valid.
