Abstract
Two filaments of ionized gas, extending several kpc from each side ofthe nucleus, have been detected in the small (M(B)=-20.0) SO galaxy NGC4684. An oval structure around the nucleus, with a projected size of680 pc, is also visible. Both structures are only evident in Halpha+ [N II] images, and not visible in V or red wavebands. The spectroscopic data indicate noncircular gas motions, similar to a radial flow. Thenature of these structures and their physical conditions are discussed. The least exotic explanation, that peculiar motions are due to a small tumbling bar near the center, is the preferred choice.
