Abstract

A comparison of live food production using batch and chemostat systems between the facilities initiated in 1988 and the re-establishment ofnew larger chemostat systems, after Kuwait's liberation, is made. Thelive food production dynamics achieved during the 1995-1996 spawning season of Shaem (Acanthopagrus latus) are discussed. Growth rate of the rotifers (Brachionus plicatilis) treated 24 h with a mixture of marine algal species (Nannochloropsis, Isochrysis, Tetraselmis, Chlorella)plus other enrichment media such as Super Selco, Protein Selco and Sanders prior to being supplied to the marine fish larvae is discussed. Rotifer production reached up to 2000 x 10(6) individuals per day.
