Abstract

Methylidene malonate 2.1.2 (MM 2.1.2) has recently been described as a valuable compound for preparing colloidal systems through emulsion/dispersion polymerization in aqueous media. Such particles could advantageously be implemented as drug carriers. Previously published size-exclusion chromatography data showed that the introduction of MM 2.1.2 into specific polymerization media led to nanoparticles mainly formed of low-molecular weight oligomeric species (M-w<1500). With the aim of complementary structural elucidation (mass spectrometry and NMR spectrometry), the present study focuses on the chromatographic resolution of the major oligomeric compound diastereoisomers.
