Abstract

This report presents a review of the historic and current methods forperforming pancreatic exocrine studies in intact animals, Special emphasis is given to the various surgical procedures-pancreatic fistulas,duodenal pouches, and duodenal fistulas-and practice of collecting pancreatic secretion in dogs, Procedures in other animal species-rat, eat, pig, rabbit, cattle, sheep, and horse-also are specified, The advantages and disadvantages, as well as the indications and limitations ofthe distinct methods, are discussed.
