Abstract

The injection of spin-polarized electrons is presently one of the major challenges in semiconductor spin electronics. We propose and demonstrate a most efficient spin injection using diluted magnetic semiconductors as spin aligners. Time-resolved photoluminescence with a Cd 0.98 Mn 0.02 Te/CdTe structure proves the feasibility of the spin-alignment mechanism. (C) 1999 American Institute of Physics. [S0003-6951(99)00709-3].
