Abstract

Te-125 NMR spectra of aromatic and aliphatic organotellurium compounds were observed in order to investigate the relationship between the structure and the T-125, NMR chemical shift of the compounds. The Te-125 NMR chemical shift of organotellurium compounds is sensitive to the type and size of thesubstituents (aromatic, aliphatic) and the oxidation state of the Te atom. The chemical shift of halooxatelluranes moved upfield when an electron-withdrawing group was attached to the phenyl group. The observed results couldbe interpreted in terms of the resonance structures of the halooxatelluranes. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
