Abstract

The aim of the following study is to support further the validity of the schizotypy scales Physical Anhedonia (PA), Perceptual Aberration (PAB) and Magical Ideation (M1) by investigating dimensionally the familial resemblance.279 participants and their first degree relatives were asked to fill out the schizotypy scales PA, PAB and MI. The intrafamilial correlations were estimated by using the Maximum Likelihood Procedure described by Rao et al. Refering to PA and MI significant correlations were round between parents and their offsprings, but no associations between siblings. In contrast, for PAB there was a marginally significant correlation between the siblings, but none between offsprings and their parents. In all three schizotypy scales significant associations were found in the scores between the parents. The results and their possible theoretical implications are discussed in relation to the existing research evidence of Familial aggregation of schizotypy.
