Abstract

A protocol for extraction of microbial DNA from oil-and grease-saturated soil is reported that can be used to target availability of specific genotypes of bacteria in extensively contaminated soils using the polymerase chainreaction. The methodology developed can be used in the biotreatibility studies for in situ bioremediation of hydrocarbon-contaminated sites.
