Abstract

A new XD melting cast technique has been applied to fabricate TiB2 particles reinforced NiAlCo matrix intermetallic matrix composites (IMCs). With appropriate Co addition, the compressive ductility of the NiAlCo intermetallic compound and NiAlCo matrix composites has been significantly improved. Compared with the matrix, the yield strength and Vickers hardness of the composites have been increased significantly. The microstructure and the relationship with properties have also been investigated. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
