Abstract

A simple, sensitive separation and preconcentration procedure is presentedfor the determination of copper, iron, and nickel in analytical reagent grade and technical grade ammonium sulphate and ammonium nitrate samples at trace levels by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GFAAS). Theprocedure is based on chelate formation of the investigated metals with 4-(2-Thiazolylazo) resorcinol (TAR) and recovery of the chelates from the Amberlite XAD-IB column with 1 M HNO3 in acetone.
