Abstract

In a longitudinal study the impact of academic achievement level on vocational choice was analyzed for students enrolling for different teacher training courses (elementary and secondary school levels). In addition students deciding for noneducation majors were included. The results showed achievement-related self-segregation as well as gender-typical preferences of the applicants. Corresponding to different studententrance characteristics academic requirements and institutional factors were rated differently by students majoring in elementary and secondary education.
