Abstract

High resolution K X-ray spectroscopy preceded by neutron activation may be considered to complement and/or rival PIXE in certain areas of analysis. This paper describes the relative capabilities of these techniques and evaluates their analytical potential with particular regard to the analysis of the heavy elements. Emphasis is placed on common features that would affect a typical analysis, and thereby the ability of both methods to complement (rival) each other is discussed.
