Abstract

The homogeneously sheared turbulence subjected to a background rotation that cancels the shear vorticity is investigated numerically. The vortex structures that appear in the rotating how are only longitudinalvortex tubes which are highly elongated in the streamwise direction. The vertical components of fluid velocity and particle diffusion are activated compared with spanwise components, reflecting the arrangementof the vortical structures, which leads to a large particle diffusionin the streamwise direction as well.
