Abstract

Potentiometric titrations were used to determine quantitatively and qualitatively the different acidities of two mycelia (Aspergillus nigerand Rhizopus arrhizus). This technique provides a simple and efficient method to measure and determine the functional groups available to bind metallic ions. The results contribute to a better knowledge of themechanisms and parameters involved in biosorption of heavy metals in natural environments and in biotechnological processes.
