Abstract

NMR was used to study the interaction between alkoxysilane compounds and a MgCl2-supported Ziegler-Natta catalyst (MgCl2/TiCl4/dibutyl phthalate). Si-29 NMR data indicated the interaction of alkoxysilane compounds with MgCl2 on the solid-catalyst, but not with TiCl4. Moreover, we found a correlation between the Si-29 chemical shift of the alkoxysilane compounds and isotactic or atactic polymerization rate in the propylene polymerization.
