Abstract

The present work is concerned with the resonance influence of low-intensity pulse modulated millimeter waves on the motor activity of protozoa Paramecium caudatum. A narrow-band dependence of the biological effect on the modulation frequency of EHF field and EHF carrier frequency has been revealed. The resonance phenomenon al a modulaton frequencyof 0,0956 Hz has been observed at EHF radiation frequencies from 42,1to 42,4 GHz, which manifests itself as a decrease of the motor activity of P.caudatum. The obtained evidence allows a conclusion that the effect of modulated millimeter waves in our experiments is determined by the increase in the intracellular calcium concentration.
