Abstract

Sparteine, beta-isosparteine and multiflorine were the major alkaloids in a population of Lupinus arcticus subsp. subalpinus while ammodendrine, 5,6-dehydrolupanine lupanine and anagyrine were the major alkaloids in L. polyphyllus. The alkaloid composition intergraded in a zone of contact between the two species of Lupinus. Concentrations of anagyrine and ammodendrine were sufficient to cause teratogenicity.
