Abstract

The synthesis from penicillin G of a series of potent pseudosymmetricinhibitors 11 a-k of HIV-1 proteinase is described. The 2-pyridyl substituted compounds 11a and 11j showed improved antiviral activity compared to their C-2-symmetric counterparts 3 and 4.
